We all have fear of something, we may not admit it, but deep down inside there is something that haunts us. Fear is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as: to be afraid of. Another definition of fear is to have reverential awe. The human race is a race stirred by fear, people may be afraid of spiders, snakes, or getting on stage, thus allowing these things to be distanced from themselves. When I was called to the full time ministry of Worship Leading, fear begin stirring inside of me. I felt that I was unworthy and therefore everytime I would go to lead worship I would become nervous. Too many times fear would create this idea that I would have to rely on myself and in the end the fear would kick my butt. The Fear that destroyed me was created by the enemy, for he wanted me to fail. In order to conquer that fear, I had to transition my fear from a selfish fear into a fear of God. The fear of God does not mean we are afraid of God, but we should be sometimes. However, it means that we are in reverential awe of God. God steps up with us and allows us to continue on, even when we have more. We must fully rely on God in order to really let go of our fears. I challenge you to meditate on the poem FootPrints
One night a man had a dream.
He dreamed He was walking along the beach with the LORD.
Across the sky flashed scenes from His life.
For each scene He noticed two sets of footprints in the sand.
One belonging to Him and the other to the LORD.
When the last scene of His life flashed before Him, he looked back at the footprints in the sand.
He noticed that many times along the path of His life there was only one set of footprints.
He also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of His life.
This really bothered Him and He questioned the LORD about it.
LORD you said that once I decided to follow you, you’d walk with me all the way.
But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life there is only one set of footprints.
I don’t understand why when I needed you most you would leave me.
The LORD replied, my precious, precious child, I Love you and I would never leave you!
During your times of trial and suffering when you see only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you.
